The Canon Colorado XL series is a new platform of large-format printers measuring 3.4 meters (11 feet) that combine the capabilities of printing on roll media and rigid substrates using Canon's UVgel technology. These professional printers are designed for high-volume production in the visual communication market.
Key features and technology
The Colorado XL series is designed to provide versatility and productivity, utilizing several proprietary technologies from Canon.
UVgel Technology:
This unique ink technology offers sharp details, a wide color range, and prints that are instantly dry, durable, and virtually odorless. It also allows for matte, glossy, or mixed finishes in a single pass, without the need for a separate varnish or ink change.
Hybrid capacity:
The printers can effortlessly switch from flexible roll media to rigid substrates up to 52 mm (2 inches) thick, making them suitable for a wide variety of applications, from flexible signage to acrylic and cardboard.
High productivity:
The series can achieve print speeds of up to 211 m²/h (2,271 ft²/h) in express mode.
Modular design:
The system is modular and scalable on-site, allowing users to first invest in a roll-to-roll configuration and then later expand to a complete hybrid system as the business needs evolve.
Advanced Media Management:
The UVgel TRIdrive suction belt system and DynamicMotion control use machine vision to actively monitor and correct the position of the substrates, ensuring accuracy and reducing waste, even with challenging materials.
White ink support:
The optional white ink system is designed to be user-friendly and integrated, overcoming common maintenance issues associated with white ink on other systems.
